Positively Shaping the Future of Short Stay Accommodation
Our mission is to lead the world in creating sustainable short-term living solutions. Solutions that prioritise the wellbeing of the environment and communities. Our approach is innovative and centred on a low waste model for our development and production methods. We believe this will be a game changer for our tourism accommodation industry.
Short stay accommodation
New Zealand’s current model of short stay accommodation is wasteful. Building materials are often toxic, single use and end their life in landfill. Visitors want to stay in our beautiful landscapes but bring with them a high demand for energy, water and services. Developers are restricted by tradition, the cost of building and the limitations of the regional facilities to support them. This results in an industry dominating and degrading the environment through all phases of the building life cycle.
We whole-heartedly embrace true sustainability being the key to a successful future for the tourism industry. That’s why we’re committed to creating a low waste model for our short stay accommodation product which promotes genuine change.
Our approach is innovative utilising modular, transportable living units that can be easily moved on and off the land. Units are designed to be energy-efficient, minimise waste, and improve air quality, all while providing a high-quality living experience for visitors. To the fullest extent possible, materials will be recyclable, non-toxic and able to be repurposed at their end of life.
Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability extends to our entire business model. We are invested in innovative and future-focused design solutions that hold environmental guardianship at their core. Achieving a circular balance of water and waste management ensures our products “rest lightly on the land”. This means we can eliminate the need for utility services and improve land use at the same time.
Our wholistic approach is unique. It seeks to become a blueprint for zero waste, carbon zero short stay accommodation in New Zealand. However, the model can and should be extended beyond tourism to provide wider benefits to communities in need and allow us to respond quickly to natural disasters and impacts of climate change. This could include short term housing for employees, disaster and emergency/housing crisis relief. With no need for utility services and able to quickly move on and off the land, relief can be immediate.
In short term crises, the community needs take precedence over the environment and rightfully so. But by minimising our impact on the landscape our model will enable guardianship of the environment while protecting our people.
